2012 Sugar Detox

Welcome to the first official EtoE blog post!  It’s  a little awkward, like walking up to a room full of strangers -- okay, so maybe 5 readers -- and introducing myself, without just busting out a life story.    I’m not so hot at that, so I’m just launching right into an official post.  More “About Me” later, I promise!
2012 Sugar Detox
The EtoE clan is starting 2012 off right with a Sugar Detox.  Yep, January is officially slated as Sugar Free January in our household. This will be paired with Paleo (strict for Mr.EtoE and myself, and not so strict for the lowercase eees).   More on that later.
If you’ve ever sat down to a meal with me, you know sugar is my nemesis.  Cake and ice cream, or dear God, a mixture of the two, and I’m done for.  In my previous flirtations with cave girl eating, it was the allowance of fruit and minor sugary cheats that put me on the expressway to evolutionary disaster.   In fact, this has been my downfall every.single.time I’ve reached those magic numbers on the scale.   This time has been different, because Crossfit, Bootcamp, and motherhood (aka. Momfit) have kept me from spiraling upward too quickly, but I can FEEL the fact that I am still “on a diet”, rather than in the midst of a “lifestyle change”.
That’s not okay this time.
So, we’re all Detoxing.  I invite you to join us, come on, you know you wanna!
The Rules
No Sweets.
No Fruit for a minimum of two weeks, preferably the whole month.  Coconut products are okay, in moderation.
No “natural sugars” such as honey, molasses, etc.  that are typically ‘Paleo’.
No sweeteners.  Exception - Coffee.  Use stevia if possible, otherwise Splenda in a pinch.
No sweetened protien shakes.  This is tough, because my morning schedule almost always includes a fruit/protein shake, and I find it much easier to get in all the protein I need (grams=body weight)  this way.  But, they are sweet, and I think that sweetness is kicking off some cravings.
A huge reason for this blog is to provide some accountability for nutrition choices, so this is probably a fitting first post.   No WOD today, much needed REST DAY after some really great WODs  this week.  Next week, back to “WOD/BC/WOD/BC/Some kind of kick butt Cardio and a rest day or two” schedule.  I can’t wait!
Happy New Year,
EtoE
